Test 9 – Land Triple with a Flyer, Two Retired and an Honor
The
mat for the 9th Series is facing southeast overlooking a field dotted
with hay bales and strips of cover. Horseshoe Field is surrounded by mature
trees.
Temps
currently are about 37 degrees, which feels like 31 degrees. Wind is NW
at 10 mph. Clouds are continuing to thin out and lighting is improving
as the day progresses.
Bird
#1 is a retired hen duck located 350 yards from the mat, and is thrown
right. The dog will descend into the field and need to maneuver through a
number of hay bales. Then as he continues he will experience taller
strips of cover leading into a harvested field to locate his bird. (We refer to this mark as MR for Middle Retired)
Bird
station #2 is a retired gun station also. The retired gun comes out
from a point of timber at about 180 yards from the mat. The hen pheasant is
shot to the right, located about 180 yards from the mat. The dog will
have a cover change. The gunners will retire when the dog leaves the
line. (We refer to this mark as SR for Short Retired)
Bird
station #3 is a Rooster Flyer. The guns are located about 250 yards
from the mat, shooting angled back to the right. The line to this bird
will follow midway along the hillside, dotted with hay bales. The
gunners will sit when the dog is released. (We will refer to this mark as F for Flyer)
There will be an Honor at the end to the left of the working dog
This test is taking approximately 6-7 minutes for each dog to complete.
